If you follow my Facebook page you will know that I’ve been guiding a 21 day Gratitude practice through a private Group: Finding Happiness Support Group. For those actively participating its been an opportunity to learn more about gratitude as well as develop a daily practice of moving towards living in positivity. This has soooooo many benefits and takes us towards happiness.
As I was reviewing my own journey into gratitude via this forum, I began to recognise just how much of me sits outside of Gratitude. What a gift this is! Now that I can really see it, I can actually consciously do something about it. If you had of asked me before the 21 day Gratitude Practice if I was ungrateful I would probably have said “No”, I tend to be a very grateful and positive person and practice thankfulness daily already.
The part of me answering in that way IS actually those things. However, I am not made up of one part but a collection of parts that all have different levels of consciousness.
The very act of having to practice gratitude amplified the Truth that many parts of me do not sit within Gratitude. They cant. Gratitude is the gateway to Love, and not all of me is able to live in Love just yet. And with this different viewing angle I have been more able to see and hear the part of me that’s stuck identifying as a Victim.
Like this internet image, most of us have a Victim Archetype inside. We are all at various stages of working through it to freedom. For me the practice of gratitude has really illuminated where I am still doing this pattern. And its been clearly exposed with a complaining voice.
Naturally for my curious mind, this led to efforts to understand the nature of complaining more deeply. Its like complaining is the expression of ungratefulness, not the opposite of grateful. Its a place where less Gratitude is present because the unconscious focus is on what’s missing from the situation and not actually seeing what one has.
It has some favourite areas of life to voice its lack about – such as finances, body shape and health and time amongst other things. It can also be REALLY subtle.
To help flush this out into consciousness where we can do something about it I decided to offer an opportunity to have a COMPLAINT FREE DAY. This will mean different things to each person… but its really about seeing how much we run a negative voice inside of us and how often it breaks out and expresses through our words and actions. Let me say it again – if we can see it we can do something about it.
I chose Wednesday April 18th 2018 to have a complaint free day. So how about you choose a day to start watching your complaining voices and watch how your life changes when they slow down or are stopped. With less complaining noise inside there will be more space for contentment and HAPPINESS! Yippeeeeeeee!
Oh, the complaining voice DOES have a good side to it, so we need to tune in to the higher side of that energy to learn when something needs to change for us. But we don’t need to pick up the thought and identify as it by complaining about how a situation is.
In a situation that we don’t like we can:
- Accept it (this doesn’t mean you have to like it or put up with it)
- Do something about it
Option 1 takes us deeper into negativity. It grows the Victim within us and makes it so big it becomes unconscious and operates through us with little to no awareness. It creates a sense of helplessness that is of course self perpetuating.
Options 2 & 3 take us towards higher consciousness which is transformative, even if we don’t yet know how to change a situation. Choosing this pathway takes us towards solving it… one step at a time.
